Tacoma Publics Schools was recently made aware of a spelling error on Science and Math Institute (SAMI) diplomas issued to the classes of 2025 and 2026. The word “Institute” is misspelled. 

The District is working with its diploma vendor to print and mail corrected diplomas to all 2025 and 2026 SAMI graduates. Graduates and families do not need to request a corrected diploma. Updated diplomas will be mailed in October. 

Information has been sent directly to all 2025 and 2026 SAMI families. If you did not receive a communication or need to update your mailing address, please complete this SAMI Address Update Form by September 30, 2026. 

The spelling error does not impact the legitimacy of the student's diploma or transcripts. We are grateful this error was brought to our attention, and we are working to make it right for our graduates.
